OUR BELIEFS

We believe that God made the world good (Gen. 1:31), but that we rebelled against him, introducing suffering and misery into our lives (Gen. 3:17-19), and separating us from our creator (Eph. 2:1-3).

But because God loves us, he sent his Son, Jesus (John 3:16). Jesus is fully God (John 1:1) and fully human (Heb. 4:14). He died in our place so that we could be forgiven (Col. 2:13), reconciled to God (Rom. 5:10), and have life (John 10:10).

The call for all people is to turn away from our rebellion against God, and believe in his Son, Jesus (Acts 16:31). God’s promise is that he will forgive you (1 Jn. 1:9), and give you life, both now, and forever.

Our hope is in the return of the Lord Jesus, when he makes all things new. (Rev. 21:5)

We believe that the Bible is God’s holy, inspired, and inerrant word. (2 Tim. 3:16)

Good News is a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. We call ourselves orthodox because we are committed to holding onto the truth of God’s word even when it costs us. We call ourselves presbyterian because we believe that Jesus Christ, the King of the Church, governs his people through elders whom he guides by his word and Spirit. The OPC is a reformed church, meaning that we hold to the biblical truths that were recovered in the Protestant Reformation. For a more thorough statement of our beliefs, see the Confession of Faith and Catechisms of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
